Overview
This article provides instructions on setting up delivery areas for locations in the backoffice for all supported area types. Tacit supports three different configurations for delivery areas:
- Postal Codes
- Polygons
- Radius
Area Type: Postal Codes
To set up delivery areas using Postal Codes, follow the steps listed below:
Go to the Brands & Locations tab
Select your Company & Brand
Navigate or Search to find location
Click Edit Delivery Areas
Select Postal Codes
Click Add Delivery Charge, which opens the window to the right.
Enter the following data:
a. Delivery Charge (set as a dollar amount)
b. Check off Apply Tax if you want to charge tax to the delivery charge. Compare with other locations in the region to decide if it should be on or off.
c. POS ID (if integrated with POS, for the delivery charge)
d. POS Name (if integrated with POS, for the delivery charge)
e. Postal Codes (include those that can be delivered to and apply to the specific delivery charge)Click the Add button to configure multiple postal codes to the same delivery charge.
Click Save.
If applicable, follow the same process as above to add more delivery charges and postal codes.
Once the delivery areas have been set up, go back to the location in the Brands & Locations search and then click Edit Location.
Go to the Preferences tab.
Select Delivery under Order Types, and then Save and Publish. If the location is in draft mode, click Save Draft instead to avoid activating the location before you are ready.

Adding Delivery Areas to Backoffice for Polygons and Radii:
Please not, if the delivery areas are already set up with the postal codes, uploading KML files will override that setup.
To setup the delivery areas follow the steps listed below:
Go to the Brands & Locations tab in Backoffice.
Select your Company & Brand, then navigate or search to find the desired location.

Click Edit Delivery Areas
Select Delivery Areas
Enter the following data:
a. Delivery Charge (this is set up with a dollar amount)
b. POS ID - if integrated with POS, for the delivery charge
c. POS Name - if integrated with POS, for the delivery charge
d. Use the Apply Tax toggle to control tax charge on delivery fee. This is generally set up in the same way as other locations in the province or region, so you can compare to other locations to decide whether this should be on or off.
Upload your KML file for the delivery area.
Note: Upload KML files that have only one zone defined without any subdivisions for a specific delivery charge. For example, “Zone 4 - $4” would be uploaded as one KML file and “Zone 5 - $5” as another one. One KML file regrouping Zone 4 and 5 will not be recognized by the platform.
Click the Save button in the top right to save your changes
If configuring multiple delivery areas at one location, repeat steps 5 and 6 until a KML file has been uploaded for each area and then click Save.
a. The delivery areas should appear on the map, and you will see each area below with the option to edit (using the pencil icon) or delete (with the trash icon).
b. If you ever make changes that you would not like to apply, simply leave the page without saving the changes.
c. If the delivery areas are not appearing in the map, or are incorrect, please review the above steps for generating KMLs for polygons or delivery areas as they were likely set up improperly.Once the delivery areas have been set up, go back to the location in the Brands & Locations search and then click Edit Location.
Go to the Preferences tab.
Select Delivery under Order Types, and then Save and Publish. If the location is in draft mode, click Save Draft instead to avoid activating the location before you are ready.
