Overview
Localizations allow each location under enterprise menus to fine‑tune their inherited menus by adjusting:
- Availability
-
Local Pricing
- POS Mapping (for POS-Connected locations)
Most Localizations can be controlled from the Localizations page:
Backoffice >> Menus >> select Brand and Location >> Localizations
Localizing Availability
Go to Backoffice >> Menus >> select Brand and Location >> Localizations
Expire Items
- Click Expire to mark menu items or modifiers unavailable.
- Expired items will display as pictured. They are greyed out, and the checkbox in the Expire column is ticked.
- Localizations automatically sync with the Operations Tab.
- If a menu item or modifier is marked as expired in a menu localization, it will also show as unavailable in Operations and vice versa.
- Therefore, item or modifier availability can be controlled in both Localizations and Operations
Behaviour of New Items
The status of new items created at the parent menu are controlled by the Mark Child Unavailable setting. For more information on this setup, please visit the Brand Settings section of How do I set up enterprise menus?
- If Mark Child Unavailable is ON: new enterprise items start unavailable.
- If Mark Child Unavailable is OFF: new enterprise items start available.
All new modifiers will automatically come in as available.
Local Items
You may create entirely local-only menu items at a child location. These do not appear in the parent and are unique to that site. These items can be set up a the Daily specials local menu that is available at child locations.
To create a local item, go to;
Backoffice >> Menus >> select Brand and Location >> Items >> Daily Specials >> New Local Item and follow the New Item setup instructions that can be found in How do I set up enterprise menus?
Localizing Prices
The process for localizing prices differs depending whether the location is POS-Connected or not.
POS-Connected Locations
As new items are added to the POS, they will need to be imported into the back office. To do so use the Refresh Pricing tab in Operations. Select the checkbox to the left of your location and use the Update button to perform a Price Refresh.
Unmapped Items:
- All items and modifiers in POS-integrated locations MUST be mapped to a POS ID. Unmapped items will not show to customers on ordering sites.
-
Mapped items will display their POS ID, POS Level, POS Name, and Price. For unmapped items, the POS fields in localizations will be blank
- You can easily identify unmapped items as they will appear with a yellow overlay and an 'UNMAPPED' label in the Menus section of backoffice
Map Items in Localizations:
Note: If a location is POS-connected, you will not be able to manually update any pricing. Prices are first set in the POS and imported through price refreshes.
- Go to Backoffice >> Menus >> select Brand and Location >> Localizations.
- Under the Localizations tab, filter for the desired item by Menu/Category or search by item name.
- Click the pencil icon in the Price column to edit the POS mapping. The below window will open.
- Search the POS listings by exact POS ID or by keyword (e.g. "Chili")
- Ensure the POS Modifier - POS Item toggle is correct depending on what your item is defined as i the POS
- Review the option(s) that populate and select the correct item using the buttons on the left once the mapping is confirmed. Press Done at the bottom of the window.
- Click Save on the top right to apply your changes.
- Prices that have not been saved will appear with yellow font in the Price column, which will turn black once saved.
POS-Disconnected Locations
For disconnected locations, Operators will manually update the price in the text field under the Price column
- Go to Backoffice >> Menus >> select Brand and Location >> Localizations.
-
Filter by Menu and Category or Search by Item Name
- Modifiers are listed under Select Menu
- Modifier Groups are listed under Select Category
- Set the local item price by editing the value in the text box of the Price column. All prices will come in initially as the amount assigned at the parent location (even if the amount is listed as $0.00)
-
Save your changes.
- Unsaved changes will be highlighted in yellow in the Price column. They should turn to regular black text once saved.
