Overview
We’ve recently added coupon code setup to our back office.
- Coupon codes are essentially promotion codes that can be set up to be used 1 time only or 1 time only per customer.
- Coupon codes can be uploaded using a .csv file, or they can be randomly generated in the back office.
- Coupon codes do not have a character limit
- Operators can define the number of coupon codes they would like to generate
- Coupon codes can be a discount off the entire customer order or a discount on menu items
- Coupon discounts can be set up as a dollar amount or a percentage off
- Operators can set up an effective date and an expiry date for coupon codes
- Expiry date is optional
- Operators can also set up the days of the week and hours of the day that coupon codes are valid for. For example, if you have a coupon code you only want used on Tuesdays, you can limit use to that day only.
- Operators can set up a minimum purchase amount required for the coupon to apply
- For example, if you want the coupon to be 10% off any orders over $50.00, you can set the minimum purchase amount to $50.00.
- Coupon codes can be set up for all order types or 1 specific order type
- For example, if you want to set up a coupon code for $10.00 off your delivery order, you can specify this

How to set up coupon codes in the backoffice
- Go to the Offers tab in back-office
- Click the ADD NEW button
- Select the scope where you want to set up the discount
- Client App
- Brand
- Location
- Select Coupon Codes from the Discount type dropdown
- Choose between Generating coupon codes or uploading your own
- If you are uploading codes, they must be 10 digit codes in a single column and the file type must be a .csv.
- If you choose to generate codes, enter the number of coupon codes you would like to generate. You can generate up to 9,999 codes.
- If you choose to generate codes, you will have the option to download them in a .csv file once the coupon codes are published
- Select the effective date of the coupon codes
- This is the first day the coupon codes are valid and can be used
- Add days of the week & hours, if applicable
- This is an optional setup. If coupon codes are valid 24/7, you do not need to set this up
- Add Expiry date, if applicable
- If coupon codes are valid for an indefinite period, you do not need to add an expiry date. You can always expire the coupon codes manually when you decide to.

- Select if you want to create a new discount or use an existing one
- If you are creating a new discount follow the steps below
- Add a discount name - this is for internal use only
- Add the discount value, it can be a percentage or dollar amount
- Select if discount is off the entire order or off an specific item
- Select usage rules for the coupon codes
- One time use means that each coupon code can only be used once total
- One time per user means that every user can use the coupon code once
- Add the minimum purchase amount, if applicable
- Select an order type, if applicable
- Specify if the discount can be applied with other discounts at the same time or not
- Restrict the discount to a specific menu item
- Select your POS
- Add the POS ID of the menu item the discount is restricted to
- Add the price level of the POS ID
Click the Publish button in the upper right corner to save your changes
Downloading Coupon Codes
If you open the downloaded codes in Excel, they will display in a condensed format as shown below.

To see the full number in Excel
- Select all the cells with codes
- Right click
- Format Cells
- Custom >Select 0> Click OK to save
Excel should now display the full number as in the image below:
